Cienfuegos

I took a moped ride through Cienfuegos
Took twenty-nine to see how freely I roamed
In all the cut out shacks and carved out faces
I saw the beauty of a true light we will never know

We are want of nothing
But nothing isn’t more than something
And if you want to be something
Where I come from you can’t have nothing
Surely not such a deep, bright light

At home and two wheels good on country laneways
I watch the farm boy walk a long mile with much on his back
Out in the yellow fields and open spaces
I taste the beauty of a clean air we’ll soon swallow whole

We are want of nothing
But nothing isn’t more than something
And if you want to be something
Where I come from you can’t have nothing
Surely not such a deep, bright light

I took a moped ride through Cienfuegos
Took twenty-nine to see how freely I roamed
